The Great Train Robbery (1903)

A short silent movie about some not-so-intelligent robbers

The movie begins with two train robbers who tie up the watcher at the train station, and halt the upcoming train.  The vandals get on the train and take some unrecognizable objects from the interior of the train   (honestly we couldn't figure out what they were...) and climb on to the roof. The train starts back up, and they travel across the top of the train to the engineer, and kill him by throwing him off the train (Quite a funny scene, actually- they beat the crap out of this guy/dummy then throw him off the train like he only ways a pound.).  The train stops, AGAIN. They make everyone exit, and rob them blind.  One escapee gets shot in the back and dies over-dramatically.  They get back on the train head and escape after they dislodge the other cars.  Then they show this ridiculously long celebration scene, followed by a random scene about the watcher being untied by a little girl.  The girl runs away and gets help from the villagers, who show up in the woods and kill the bandits, who have finally stopped celebrating, and in the middle of counting money.  In the end, a robber shoots the camera. BAM. Famous scene.

Really, we had no idea what was going on 60% of the time.the fact they shot a moving train was impressive, and that they weren't shooting on a set. Honestly, it was quite boring.
