Intolerance (1916)

A long movie with beautiful sets and a clippy story.

This movie is long, drawn out, and has no music score.  On the upside, It had impressive sets, and an astonishing number of actors.  It isn't a bad movie at all, but the story is constantly flips back and forth between four different love stories.  We don't think it needs to be called "Intolerance", because no one is intolerant of their love, it just generally sucks to be those people.  It shows a couple from the Babylonian period, Jesus of Nazareth, A modern day (1914) and St. Bartholomew's day massacre.  while there is intolerance of the events around the people, it usually isn't too noticeable, and not about their love.  We recommended this movie if you have time to spare and a strong love of movies and historical periods. or if you are an art historian, We're sure that the sets will impress you. the Babylonian art was almost perfectly reconstructed.
